Mulhouse is a destination approved by Famille Plus for taking care of children. Accommodation to suit our little ones with baby equipment, indoor and outdoor play areas. Entertainment and events that your kids will love and special family rates that your purses will love too. Not forgetting the Familib service: just visit Tourist Information and hire a car seat or pushchair. If you plan on visiting the Ecomusée d’Alsace or Parc du Petit Prince, then Hôtel Les Loges is the place for you! It's 18km from Mulhouse and next to both tourist attractions approved by Famille Plus.
If you'd prefer a holiday home or campsite then you'll find your happy place at les gîtes de Béatrice, Camping de l’Ill de Mulhouse (with a pool and entertainment for children and grown-ups to boot!) or the Youth Hostel. You're spoilt for choice when it's time for a bite: brasserie, classic French cuisine or brunch? The choice is yours when it comes to which restaurant you fancy. We love varied menus, family-friendly prices and fast, friendly service so you don't miss a thing in Mulhouse.
If you're a family who likes being in the great outdoors then Mulhouse Zoo and Botanical Park is the place for you. It's one of the oldest zoos in France with 1200 animals and a park home to over 3000 plants no less! Keep your eyes peeled: people have been visiting the Malayan tapir and Celebes crested macaque enclosure since 2019 at fun-filled and educational Mulhouse Zoo. Be sure to visit Wesserling Park - Textile Eco-Museum with its themed gardens and the Ecomusée d’Alsace for horse and cart rides and farm animals in a reconstructed 1920s Alsatian village. If you're looking for a well-earned break or a rest on the grass beneath the trees then visit Mulhouse's many parks. A treat for everyone!
It's all we want when it's hot... we're talking about water! There are lots of indoor and outdoor pools for you to dive into: large leisure pools and water slides that kids will love. Spend time at the Illberg water sports centre with its 5 outdoor pools and play areas open in summer. Other must-visits include Reiningue Lake home to 25ha of nature 12km from Mulhouse and Ottmarsheim aquatics centre. There are lifeguards on-site every day in summer. Last but not least, if you don't fancy getting your feet wet then soak up the bike path along the Rhône-Rhine Canal!
Children simply adore visiting museums in and around Mulhouse. Full steam ahead to the Cité du Train – Patrimoine SNCF and the biggest railway collection in Europe. If cars are more your thing then the Cité de l’Automobile – Collection Schlumpf and its classic Bugattis (among others) await. Motorbike and vintage engine fans will go wild for the Grange à Bécanes in Bantzenheim: a museum showcasing a collection of 90 vintage motorbikes. Hands-on families should get over to the Musée de l’Impression sur Etoffes to have a go at printing on cloth! Don't forget to download the SAM app on your phone to help plan your museum trips. Last but not least, explore the city and channel Sherlock on the annual Nuit des Mystères for an adventure in Mulhouse's museums...
There's always a day when the kids want to spend the day at the park when you're on holiday. We love the poetic fun to be had at the Parc du Petit Prince with rides inspired by the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Children and adults will love the thrill of a unique skating experience on the Olympic ice rink. There's even a mini skating rink for little ones on Sunday morning!
Experience Planètes Aventures in summer: 3-17 year olds can do their own thing. The great outdoors, board sports, education, a wide range of age-appropriate activities are available for kids who want to get together. The Haut-Rhin's biggest indoor leisure centre isn't far from Mulhouse either: Big Little. You'll find 3500m2 of trampolines, escape room, laser quest, soft play and more so you can have fun with family and friends! Last but not least, the adrenalin-pumping rides at the Foire Kermesse funfair make it the highlight of summer for teenagers!
Whether it's spring, summer, autumn or winter, Mulhouse makes a splash and challenges you to get bored! Winter isn't bleak in Mulhouse, the much-anticipated Carnival is held every February or March. There's a real party atmosphere and the colourful floats are a sight for sore eyes. No matter your age, if you love board games then visit Happy Games at Parc Expo in March. June is the time to gaze at street art in our city on our trails; a feast for the eyes. Parc Salvator comes to life and hosts shows and film screenings every Thursday (and Friday) in July and August. Don't miss Scènes de Rue where the city streets turn into giant stages for 4 days: experience something unique! No profile of Mulhouse would be complete without mentioning its famous traditional Christmas market. The scent of gingerbread and mulled wine in the air and Place de la Réunion warms our cockles. From late November to late December, ride on the big wheel, enjoy the myriad entertainment, hit the Boutique aux Etoffes to shop the new Christmas cloth for the year and make Yuletide memories with the family! If you're lucky you may even see Father Christmas whilst you're here...
