Rather than consigning our departed loved ones to oblivion, Anna Nozière cheerfully proposes to honor them in a cheeky and funny show that takes the side of children and... life! Often hard for adults to hear, the social expectation to “grieve” is incomprehensible to children: do the living really have no choice but to accept the loss of their loved ones? *Oiseau* boldly asserts the freedom to invent a new life with our departed loved ones. It all begins when Mustafa, who has just lost his dad, and Paméla, who has lost her dog, become inseparable, united by this shared experience. Little Françou, a skinny first-grader, bursts in one day and offers to help them see their dad and dog again: all they have to do is go to the other side—she goes there every Wednesday. A plan begins to take shape. With butterflies in their stomachs and hearts pounding, they rally other kids to join them… And off they go on an adventure that will send the teacher into a panic, drive the principal crazy, annoy the school custodian, and send the parents into a frenzy. In the playground, the taboo subject of death becomes impossible to avoid. Even the dead themselves get involved. Ages 10 and up. Only in French. From 6 to 12 €
