Oelenberg Abbey has not yet revealed all its secrets. Since 2022, the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage of the Grand Est Region has been conducting a new study dedicated to this iconic site, which was first documented in 1984. At this conference, discover the behind-the-scenes work being done to better understand the abbey’s history and evolution. From religious heritage to farm buildings and industrial legacy, researchers, archivists, cartographers, geomatics specialists, and photographers are pooling their expertise to study every facet of the site. Olivier Haegel, a researcher; Nadège Taureau, a archivist; and Audrey Schneider, a cartographer, will present this inventory project and the insights it is now helping to deepen. This work is essential for documenting, preserving, and passing on the region’s heritage. The lecture will be followed by a tour of the abbey, offering an opportunity to discover this thousand-year-old heritage firsthand and from a different perspective.
