Description

Somewhere between personal testimony and fantasy, this is a deliberately lighthearted show that tackles the issues faced by teenagers in their first romances: sexism, the weight of stereotypes and social pressures, and the power of images. The set design reimagines the conventions of cabaret. With a healthy dose of humor and a commitment to never being moralistic or falling into the trap of proselytizing, Jean-François Auguste invites the audience to question the roles that young lovers try to embody in their romantic relationships. Drawing on the intimate experiences of teenagers, discussions with experts, and parental accounts, the production blends theater, dance, songs, and performances by artists. Issues of freedom, self-determination, and self-assertion clash with stereotypes and clichés. Our love lives are not shaped solely by our emotions and thoughts, but also by our social environment—both near and far. By reimagining the conventions of cabaret, the show plays with reality, exaggerates traits, and uses the fake to reveal the real, in all its multifaceted truths. Ages 14 and up. Only in French. From 6 to 30 €
