Description

This intimate story resonates with everyone, as its brilliant structure so powerfully evokes the universal complexity of parent-child relationships. It is a declaration of love, fueled by a desire for reconciliation and filled with hope. In a distant land, Haiti—plagued by violence and madness—a mother dies tragically. A few years later, her son chooses to summon her, beyond death, to confide in her—in this belated conversation—everything he never knew and never dared to tell her. While Jean-René Lemoine’s words speak of the wanderings of a land abandoned by the world, his narrative is neither historical nor political. Above all, it offers the story of an intense mother-son relationship—with its misunderstandings, conflicts, shared truths, the weight of distance, happy memories, mutual admiration, and the power of love. This work also explores the exile of a family torn between Haiti and Europe, intergenerational conflicts, and what one must let go of in order to accept—as much as possible—the immense fragility of the world. An intimate journey, facing one’s mother… For ages 15 and up. Only in French. From 6 to 30 €
