After two years spent exploring the works of Schumann, one of his favorite composers, Arthur Hinnewinkel continues his exploration of the Romantic repertoire with Brahms—and a discovery along the way: a lesser-known opus. He contrasts this tradition-oriented composer with Mussorgsky, one of his contemporaries, whose utterly innovative style produced one of the greatest masterpieces in the piano repertoire.
