Description
How do you make the invisible visible? That's the challenge of the "L'électricité s'affiche" exhibition, presented at the Electropolis Museum. Through a remarkable selection of original posters, rarely exhibited because of their fragility, discover how electricity has been staged and told since the end of the 19th century.
Renowned illustrators and poster artists, including Paul Colin, Bernard Villemot, Lefor Openo and Jean Effel, helped shape the image of an energy synonymous with progress, comfort and modernity. Posters, drawings, films, games, mascots and advertising objects from the museum's collections retrace this fascinating graphic adventure.
Organized around major themes such as the home, education, domestic uses, the role of women and the environment, the exhibition reveals how electrical advertising has accompanied changes in society and in our relationship with energy.
This exceptional presentation also marks the 80th anniversary of the EDF Group, a long-standing partner of the museum, and highlights a graphic heritage as rich as it is little-known.
