Vidal Bini is a dancer and choreographer, but his work cannot be confined to the realm of dance alone. For this performance, he brings together dancers and musicians on stage for an enhanced concert featuring the score *Myotis V*, written by Anthony Laguerre for *Les Percussions de Strasbourg*. Myotis V x 2 = MYOTIS X!
At the heart of this piece, the joy of dancing together flows to the sound of drumheads, the metal of gongs, and the Revox tape, like the intrusion of a fantasized past into our present. Isn’t every sound produced by a percussionist the result of a gesture that could very well be a dance? Thus, the score—which explores the resonance between movement and sound—weaves deep connections between the bodies of the five dancers and the percussive vibrations, as the ensemble performs live on stage. The dance, based on the fragmentation of movement and the relationships between bodies, draws on this powerful and exhilarating music to bear witness to the transformation of the world. Here, Vidal Bini creates a resonance between the gestures of sound and those of dance: “ In *Myotis V*, I found impulses, soaring moments, resistance, assertions, and moments of lightness that guided us—the dancers and me—toward this piece, *MYOTIS X*, which is both sensitive and brutal.”
