Description

Nearly 50 trombonists will perform on stage at the Saint-Etienne Church in Mulhouse for the closing concert of the 14th edition of the Alsace Trombone Music Academy The musicians, who have come from all over France and Germany, will showcase the capabilities of the trombone, under the guidance of leading figures in the field such as Yvelise Girard, former principal trombonist of the Lyon Opera and the first female trombonist to serve as a soloist in a French orchestra, Yves Bauer, principal bass trombonist of the Lille National Orchestra and trombone professor at the Roubaix Conservatory; Benjamin Martichon, principal trombonist of the Meyenheim Military Band; and Laurent Weisbeck, trombone professor at the Pays de Montbéliard Conservatory and artistic director of the event. The highlight of the show will be the appearance of international concert artist Michel Becquet, one of the most illustrious trombone players on the world stage and a pioneer of the instrument. His influence on the world of music has helped break down certain stereotypes surrounding the trombone and elevated it to the status of a solo instrument on par with the violin or the piano. Young and old alike will come together for the occasion to enjoy a truly festive program, united by a shared passion: the trombone! Free admission
