Description
Going against the grain of a world under strain, *Same Same* offers a radiant respite where cultures converge—bridging heritage and modernity—to remind us that, despite our differences, we share a common humanity.
On stage, seven acrobats and three musicians create a universal language: contortions, juggling, the Chinese pole, balancing acts, the diabolo, the teeterboard, the aerial hoop, and acrobatics blend and intertwine in a choral performance. Circus disciplines tell the stories of bodies and their histories, transforming challenges into moments of inspiration and inviting us to feel what connects us all. The show explores a series of familiar situations. In these ordinary moments, cultural differences, awkwardness, tensions, and laughter emerge. Everyone seeks balance, adjusts their pace, and invents their own language. Little by little, divisions fade away; restraint gives way to spontaneity and generous exuberance; individuals come together as a group; and differences become a force in motion. All the artists of Phare, The Cambodian Circus come from “Phare Ponleu Selpak” (“the light of the arts” in Khmer), a Cambodian school founded in 1994 where artistic practice serves as a tool for personal fulfillment and social support for the most disadvantaged.
For ages 4 and up.
