During the Advent season, the Ecomusée d’Alsace looks like a real Christmas village! With its 80 buildings representative of rural Alsace, plunge into a magical universe in the heart of traditions: welcome to “Christmas of yesterday and today”!
Around the emblematic Advent wreath installed on the main square of the village, 2 districts are outlined: the district of Christmas of yesterday and the district of Christmas of today.
Walking through the former, you’ll be surprised by its intimate and warm atmosphere with the scent of fir trees and wood fires perfuming the atmosphere. Here Christmas is celebrated with the family at home. You will see teddy bears and old toys on display in one house or a sled repair workshop in the carpenter’s shop.
In the second neighborhood, you will be amazed by the decorations galore and shimmering lights: the streets are in celebration! You can meet the blacksmith, the stained glass artist and the potter and you can also taste the famous Alsatian “bredalas” (Christmas cakes) fresh out of the oven at the House of Tastes and Colors!
