Escapades in the hills: come and discover villages and their heritage.

It was while he was renovating his house (half-timbered, naturally!) that Christian started learning about his village's history; after that, it didn't take him long to develop a real interest in countryside crosses. Join him for a great opportunity to leave the city behind and appreciate the region's nature and villages.

About Christian

I have just retired from my career as an industrial chemist. Now, I'm dedicating myself to my hobbies of history, heritage and nature, and to meeting new people from different cultures.

I also spend a lot of time doing DIY, natural gardening, photography and organising journeys.

As far as heritage is concerned, I'm particularly interested in architecture (half-timbered houses, cultural edifices, countryside chapels, bourgeois houses, old factories, etc.) and in the environment (the countryside, nice views, vines and orchards, natural gardens, wild plants, etc.).

I therefore have various walks to suggest, both in the city (the historic centre of Mulhouse, Rebberg and Tannenwald Forest, for example) or in the countryside and hills round about it (beautiful views across the Black Forest, the Vosges, the Jura and the Swiss Alps).

Here are a few examples of the walks we could do in the nearby countryside:

  • Discover ESCHENTZWILLER, its half-timbered housesits fortified steeple, the boundary stones of ANDLAU, the tilery, etc. ;
  • On the trail of the countryside chapels of BRUEBACH ;
  • Discover the village of ZIMMERSHEIM with its half-timbered houses, farms and rural crosses, etc. ;
  • A little trip to LANDSER to see its fountains, windmills, convent and Gothic bell tower, etc. ;
  • Immerse yourself in nature not far from the city with ponds, hills, viewpoints, lakes, vineyards, orchards, prairies and, of course, storks, etc.

If you want, we can also go for walks in other villages in Sundgau – there's so much heritage to be discovered in the Mulhouse-Altkirch-Basel triangle.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!
