The Museum of Printed Fabrics is an association museum, created in 1955 on the basis of museums formed in the 19th century, which benefits from the "Musée de France" designation. At once a museum of decorative and industrial art, a technical museum and a local history museum, the Museum aims to raise awareness of textile printing, drawing on textile collections, graphic arts, archives, sample books, industrial machinery and equipment, as well as ethnographic and decorative art objects.
The museum also preserves a very varied heritage linked to the Mulhouse textile industry, but not only, as it bears witness to the art of textile printing throughout the world.
Preserving, restoring and documenting its collections only makes sense for the museum if it shares this heritage. The Museum has always been committed to contemporary creation, and offers its works to contemporary artists and designers.
